Q: When does the outdoor season start?
A: We are planning on starting the 2010 outdoor season on Tuesday May 25th, 2010. This date is tentative on if the fields are opened for us. We will update the website if there are any changes.
Q: How long does the season last?
A: The season starts at the end of May and runs until the second Sunday in August.
Q: When will the VESC tournament be held?
A: The 2010 VESC tournament will be held on Friday June 25th to Sunday June 27th.
Q: Who participates in the VESC tournament?
A: All of our youth divisions from U4 to U18 get to participate in the VESC tournament.
Q: When are the playoffs for the VESC?
A: The 2010 VESC playoffs will start on Monday August 2nd and will run through too Sunday August 8th.
Q: I am a first time player, what do I need to play soccer with the VESC?
A: You will receive included in your registration fee; a jersey, socks and a pair of shorts. You will need to purchase outdoor soccer shoes and soccer shin guards. Soccer shin guards are mandatory to play and you will not be allowed to play without wearing a pair of shin guards that provide reasonable protection.
Q: What should I bring to the game?
A: Wear your complete uniform. It is important that you bring plenty of water to the game regardless of the weather. Also, don’t forget your sunscreen!
Q: Can I wear a hat?
A: No hats are allowed on the field of play.
Exceptions to this are: 1) The goalkeeper may wear a hat, or 2) An outfield player may be permitted for medical reasons on the presentation of a letter signed by a medical professional and validated by the District Association and a copy to the OSA. In this circumstance:
- A. the hat may not be a baseball cap, and
- B. If cap has a peak it must face forwards and have a soft peak. and
- C. contains no metal or plastic parts
Q: Can I wear jewellery while playing soccer?
A: All items of jewellery (necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, leather bands, rubber bands
etc.) are strictly forbidden and must be removed. Using tape to cover jewellery is not
acceptable.
Loose beaded hair is also not permitted unless tied back or covered by a net.
Exceptions to this interpretation are:
- Smooth wedding bands, which, when the referee is convinced cannot be
removed may be taped. (not the CSA position but understand in recreational
soccer it would be accepted)
- Medic Alert Bracelets are allowed. Where possible they should be the soft Velcro
style which does not present any danger. If the medical alert bracelet is the
normal metal type it should be either covered by a sweat band or taped. If taped
the taping should be such that the description of the medical problem is clearly
visible.

Q: What method of payment is accepted?
A: Cash, cheque, certified cheque or money order are all accepted.
Q: How do I know what age division I and/or my child can play in?
A: For the 2010 Outdoor season the following table is to be followed:

Q: Can my child play in a lower age division?
A: To keep the divisions both fair and safe under OSA rules, we are not allowed to register a child to play in a lower age division.
Q: Can my child play in a higher age division?
A: Yes, provided there is a spot available in the higher age division. Any child in divisions U6 to U14 can advance to a higher age division.
Q: Can I request my child to be placed on the same team as their friends?
A: Each youth player has the right to request only one (1) player to be placed on the same team. Both players must request each other.
We do our best to place these players together however it isn't always possible.
This ONLY pertains to divisions U4 to U18. It does not pertain to adult divisions.
Q: Can I play in an adult division regardless of my age?
A: You must have reached the age of nineteen (19) or older as of January 1st – December 31st, of the current year to be eligible to play in any adult division.
Q: Can I request to be placed on a certain adult team?
A: Yes. There is a question on the Adult Registration Form that asks who your team captain is. That way you can make sure you are on the correct team. Your team captain/coach can also fill out the Adult Team Registration Form that will inform us who is a apart of their team.
Q: My adult team captain filled out the "Adult Team Registration Form", do I still need to fill out an "Adult Registration Form" & "OSA Waiver Form"?
A: Yes! Every adult player MUST fill out both an "Adult Registration Form" & "OSA Waiver Form" to play. The "Adult Team Registration Form" is just for your captain and the VESC to help make sure everyone is put on the proper team.
